The Infiernillo prospect is located approximately 76 km NE of the village of Santo Tomas in the region of Cusco, roughly 1315 km south of Lima via Nasca, then to Cusco on to Santo Tomas. The property consists of four concessions, Infernillo XXI, XXII, XXIII and XXIV for a total of 3,752.29 hectares at an elevation of 4,000 meters above sea level.
Geology
The rocks in the area correspond to a sequence of white quartzite of the Yura Group known locally as the Mara Formation. Overlying the Mara Formation is a series of grey to bluish grey limestone of the Ferrobamba Formation of the Middle Cretaceous.
There are diorite, granodiorite and some hornblende bodies intruding in the sedimentary rocks, which in some areas form magnetite-hematite bodies.
Highlights:
Infiernillo XXI
- Four 20x30 skarn outcroppings have been located
- Contains gold values
Infiernillo XXII
- Two magnetite bodies discovered
- Orebody A - 100m long and 50 m wide
- Orebody B - 230m long and 70m wide
- Skarn outcroppings discovered
- The property has been mined in the apst by the spanish Coquestadors and is presently being mined by Artisanal miners.
Infiernillo XXII
- The property consists of Coarse-grained granodiorite with biotite hornblende and some disseminated magnetite.
- Stockworks, quartz veins ranging in thickness from 0.15m to 0.20m contain gold values. The length of these structures in some cases has been seen to span close to 50 meters.
- Small veins have been found ranging in thickness from 1cm to 2cm
Infiernillo XXIV
- Outcroppings of granodiorite formed by quartz, biotite and some dissemination of magnetite
- Narrow veins have been found on the claim
- Exploration will entail geo-chem sampling, geo-physics, Trenching and drilling.
